Stuttgart is home to the world’s first television tower. For 60 years, this 217-meter-tall tower has braved wind and weather. When construction began, not everyone in Stuttgart was convinced that the first tower, built with a steel-concrete structure, would actually hold up.

After a 20-month construction period, the Stuttgart TV Tower was inaugurated on February 5, 1956. It became a prototype that was replicated and further developed worldwide – from Frankfurt to Dortmund, Johannesburg, and Wuhan in China.
