The world’s first television tower stands in Stuttgart. For decades, the 217-meter-high tower has withstood wind and weather – when construction began, not everyone in Stuttgart believed that the first tower built from reinforced concrete would actually stand. After 20 months of construction, the Stuttgarter Fernsehturm was inaugurated on February 5, 1956, and became the prototype that was replicated and further developed around the world – from Frankfurt and Dortmund to Johannesburg and Wuhan. From the top, you can enjoy sweeping views over Stuttgart and the region.
